your laptop should own a little symbol that looks similar to a screen beside an arrow pointing out of it. You can connect your laptop to your tv using this port and a rca connector (see link). However, if u have a smallish low definition tv next the result on your tv will propbably be pretty rubbish and not good ample to watch movies or read websites next to.
u have to buy the cable at frys or any other electronics store u know and the steps are simple after that just connect the cable in the right places
